San Francisco
Eight years after leaving S.F. for Mexico, I was back in San Francisco to work for Beyond the Dream, the four-part documentary series about California, executive produced by Jed Riffe for PBS. I worked for Emiko Omori as an associate producer on her documentary segment, Ripe for Change. I have lived in San Francisco with my family for eight years now. Its 2010.
The images in this series from San Francisco are drops in a bucket, grains of sands in a much larger body of work that has come out of my time here, and includes large scale public installations, short films, photography and writing.
My work here has been, as in Mexico, very personal, still attempting to find 'home,' to better understandi 'identity,' and as always, like when I was first introduced to art, I hope my work will connect with people on a deeper human level, offer a respite, a hand, a new perspective, a journey, a view you may not have seen otherwise.
The sketches from 2009 are from a painting series, Healing Myself, set for completion in 2010-2011.
I also hope to return to the maize paintings so please contact me if you have a maize/maiz field to offer for a possible painting residencey.
