Our converation led me to begin photographing weddings , and on visits to City Hall, the entire culture of City Hall weddings. Unexpectedly being thrown a boutique by one bride, and watching the melt-down of another, I came across this couple outside City Hall. This couple would not be allowed into City Hall for their official vows. I felt after talking with them that their 'outside' status in so many ways made their determination to create their own ceremony ever more a statement about marriage and the universal urge to unite with another.
